How to write a literature review | Guide


Literature review is an account of what has been published on a topic by accredited scholars and
researchers. There is need to focus on literature related to the problem of your study. 

In writing the section on literature review, your purpose is to convey to the reader what knowledge
and ideas have been established related to your topic, and what are their strengths and weaknesses. 
All good research and writing are guided by review of the relevant literature. 
Literature review will help you discover whether your research hypothesis/question has already been
answered by someone else. If it has, you must change or modify your topic or hypothesis or question
to add to the body of knowledge. 
Synthesize results into a summary of what is and is not known. 

Normally, the preparation of dissertation is a requirement of some courses/programs in higher of institutions; you will be required to write a literature review. 
Essentially, reviews the literature related to the research topic. 
To look for literature reviews from scholars or authors checkout platforms such as Google Scholars,  ResearchGate or statistical data from genuine websites among others. Text material sources include text materials, journals reamong other sources.

For example, if my research study is about Impact of ICT on the Globe. With independent variables such as SMEs, Economy, Education etc. 
Then using ResearchGate or Google Scholars websites, I will look for research that was made on Impact of ICT on the Globe and majorly study research done on my independent variable such as SMEs or Economy etc

In conclusion, regardless of your research study and independent variables selected.  To check out the studies made by scholars then briefly write about their findings.
